Events and Entertainment
There is always something going on in Oriental. Our Events Calendar lists annual events in town, such as the Croaker Festival, The Spirit of Christmas, and the Running of The Dragon. Live music can be found at the Tiki Bar, the Deli, The Silos, and The Broad Street Cafe.
The Pamlico Musical Society presents an annual series of concerts at the Pamlico County Civic and Cultural Center on Broad Street. The quality of these concerts is fantastic. Movies are presented at the Pamlico County Civic and Cultural Center, a historic movie theater on Broad Street in the center of town.
The Oriental Boat Show took place at Pecan Grove Marina April 17-19, 2009. This is billed as the "Boat Show for Everyone".
The Tour of Homes was held on April 18, 2009, from 10am to 4pm. Six homes, many of historic nature, were on the tour.
The 6th Annual Art on the Neuse Arts festival will take place on June 20th, 2009 at the Waterfront Courtyard of the Oriental Marina and Inn on Hodges Street. Artists are invited to participate. Contact Susan Cheatham for further information.
The 2008 The Croaker Festival took place on July 4 and 5, hosted by the wonderful folks in the Town of Oriental. This was the 28th year of our festival and this year we celebrated with Croaker Doodle Dandy ! We hope you were able to join us and that you had a wonderful time!
On July 4th, 1980 the Oriental Women’s Club put on the three-day event complete with a fishing contest. It was done in the spirit of benefiting the Pamlico County non-profits. Through the years, it has ebbed and flowed with each group of volunteers that have worked to put it together, but the purpose has remained the same: We do the work to put on a wonderful festival to benefit the non-profits in Pamlico County, while providing an event where families can come and enjoy it together.
We thank our advertisers, our waterfront home owners, all of the vendors, our parade participants, and all the volunteers who put the festival together and helped in the Croaker Booth. All of these wonderful people work hard for months to make sure that everyone has plenty of food, fun, music, and a fireworks show that’s the best around.
The festival also thanks those special donors who gave without recognition.

oriental cup regatta
was started in 1989 as a memorial to Bill Harris who owned the Oriental Marina and who was an enthusiastic supporter of the Pamlico County High School Boosters Club. The Scholarship Fund was the outcome of the wish to memorialize Bill.
